Four partners — Doug Mangel, John Hockenbury, Joe Bailey and Alex Karam – and five associates are joining Clyde & Co from Shipman & Goodwin LLP. They will bolster the firm’s insurance coverage practice in its Washington, DC office, which opened its doors in February 2017 with a six partner insurance team.
The group specializes in Financial Institutions / Directors and Officers (FI D&O) and professional liability insurance coverage. They act as coverage, monitoring and litigation counsel representing large commercial insurers nationwide.
Simon Konsta, Clyde & Co Senior Partner, remarked: “Further strengthening our insurance practice in Washington, DC is another sign of our commitment to continued expansion in the United States. This team and other recent hires continue to enhance our offering to clients across the country and internationally.”
Leslie Ahari, Managing Partner of Clyde & Co’s Washington, DC office, commented: “Doug, John, Joe and Alex and their team will be great additions to our insurer focused practice in Washington, DC, and will expand our core practice areas of FI D&O and professional liability coverage work for insurers. They are well known and very highly regarded as insurance lawyers, and we are very excited they have chosen to move their practices to Clyde & Co
Doug Mangel stated: “We’re delighted to be joining Clyde & Co as it is a firm with insurance at its heart and a top reputation in the market. We’re looking forward to serving our clients and building our practices as part of Clyde & Co’s extensive national and global platform.”
This expansion in Washington, DC is the latest growth for Clyde & Co in the US, where it first launched in 2006, and follows the hiring in December 2017 of a 90-strong insurance and litigation team from Sedgwick LLP, including 15 partners. Clyde & Co also recently expanded its Miami office with the hiring of a ten lawyer team.
The firm opened offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, DC in 2017 and now has ten offices, over 60 partners and more than 350 people nationally in offices including Miami, Atlanta, San Francisco, Orange County, Long Beach, New York City and New Jersey.
